Brooke Hogan Set to Join TNA Impact Wrestling

Well the last 24 hours has been full of news for both WWE and TNA.  Things seemed to be on a positive path for TNA as they announced Impact would be live all Summer beginning May 31st, but this could turn out to be a "1 step forward 2 steps back" situation as TNA has now announced that Brooke Hogan will be joining Impact Wrestling on May 31st.

There hasn't been very much positive buzz about this at all on the net, as most don't see what Brooke brings to the table being she has never been involved in wrestling before.  The official statement from TNA is that Brooke will be the "Executive in Charge" of the Knockouts.  This role is iffy at best as the Knockout division has always been about respect and quality female wrestling, but now it will be "run" by someone who has never been in a ring and doesn't have much history of her own in wrestling.

I don't think this is going to go over well on live shows either.  The site of Brooke Hogan in the ring directing the Knockouts will be an open invite for the fans to boo her out of the building.  If she came in as a bitchy, drunk with power authority figure it might work with time, but with Hulk Hogan as the big face GM of the company it doesn't look probable any time soon.

TNA is treating this like they've signed a big media star that will also be helping the girls in a variety of ways backstage as well, hmm.  I really don't think anyone is going to buy it, and most everyone will see this as Hogan getting his daughter on TV in the same way Eric Bischoff has his son in a TV role now.  If Brooke had announced her music career had flopped and wanted to train to wrestle and the fans got to see her get her ass kicked and pay her dues, that would be one thing; bringing her in as some sort of media star who is going to be an authority figure....quite the risk.  The big question is now, is TNA fixing their problems or just creating a whole lot more?

Huge TNA Spoilers: New Heavyweight Champion Crowned

**Warning, spoilers for this Thursdays Impact ahead, don't read if you want to be surprised**

Coming off TNA's biggest pay per view of the year, Bound for Glory, there have been many reports about the locker room being unhappy that Bobby Roode didn't beat Kurt Angle for the TNA Title.  Hulk Hogan has been very vocal recently in the media on his Twitter page recently about many of the TNA talents.  He stated last week that he didn't think Bobby Roode was "the guy," and word was that Hogan himself lobbied to change the original finish in the Bound for Glory main event which had Roode winning the belt.

Hogan had also mentioned last week that he believed James Storm should get a big push over Roode, and tonight at the Impact tapings that belief became apparent to all as James Storm defeated Kurt Angle and won the TNA World Title.  This was a pretty big swerve, as many believe Roode would still end up winning the title soon.  Storm is more of a character than Roode, and it seems like Hogan saw much more in him since Storm is now the reigning TNA Champion.  It should be interesting now to see where this story goes, since a Roode heel turn and feud with Storm seems like a natural direction, but it's hard to tell where they will go at this point.

In another spoiler from the Impact tapings, Gail Kim returned to TNA and looks to have returned as a heel alongside Karen Jarrett judging by the couple of pics we've seen.  Gail was a huge part of building the Knockout Division, and her classic matches with Awesome Kong (Kharma) set the tone for the success of the Knockouts.  Gail's return is a major boost to the Knockout division, and many more potential great Knockout matches will no doubt be on the way with Gail in the mix.

Check out Impact this Thursday on Spike and see all of these major developments unfold!

Official RAW and Impact January 4th Ratings are in...

The Monday Night War version 2 is in the books, and without a doubt, it has provided more buzz and talk about wrestling then there has been in years. TNA provided a show that was loaded with surprises, changes, and overall the big time feel that they have needed for years now. WWE on the other hand provided a monumental return that many believed would never ever happen, that being the return of Bret Hart. WWE didn't give us much of anything different outside of Bret's segments, thus showing that they didn't feel overly threatened by going head to head with TNA. Well now the numbers are finally in, and TNA scored a 1.5, with an average of 2,200,000 viewers, which is their largest rating of all time. The number exceeded Spike TV's hope of at least getting their usual Thursday rating, and the talks have already begun that TNA may be moving to Monday Nights permanately. On the other side of things, WWE scored a 3.6, with an average 5,600,000 viewers for RAW. Now on the surface, WWE did score the higher rating, but this initial war was never about Impact beating RAW in the ratings, as everyone knew going in that it wasn't possible yet. The thing is WWE's rating wasn't much higher than it's normal rating considering they pulled out the huge return of Bret Hart, which is by far the most interesting thing RAW has featured in a very long time. TNA pulled out all the stops, exceeded their hopes, and started many new stories that will be fun to follow if they can continue on this momentum. Many have complained about TNA using old stars....but the fact of the matter is, these old stars have drawn money, and can help make more stars just by associating with the younger talent. TNA could have put all their young talent out there, they could have put on 5 star matches, and still no one would have cared. TNA has been trying that method for years, and nothing has clicked. Suddenly Hulk Hogan, Ric Flair, Eric Bischoff, Scott Hall etc. are in the house, and every one is talking. The biggest question is, can TNA continue to produce quality TV that will keep the viewers watching. My thought is, if anyone can, Eric Bischoff and Hulk Hogan can. Say what you will, but they know how to take a promotion to the next level, and how to create interest. The interest is there, and TNA picked up huge momentum this past Monday, which may even in turn make WWE step it hope in future head to head Mondays. Hopefully the next step will be reporting news that TNA is moving to Monday nights, and we'll get to enjoy the excitement of weekly RAW vs. Impact.

January 4th WWE Raw VS TNA Impact Thoughts

So, tonight, I had a choice. Watch Brets return to the WWE on Raw. Or watch Hogans debut in TNA? I went with TNA, mainly to give them the ratings in hopes it would drive WWE to make a better product, because for the past couple years, it's pure garbage. Bret coming back wasn't THAT big of a deal mainly because, he did come back for his Hall Of Fame induction. The whole Vince being pissed that Bret didn't shake his hand crap is stupid because when Bret was put in the Hall Of Fame, WWE has a giant image of Bret and Vince shaking hands on WWE.COM when it was announced he was being inducted, so whatever. Also Bret had already stated in an interview just last year that after all these years there is no use being pissed and upset about things anymore and he has put it all in the past. So again, whatever.

After watching both shows, it goes like this. WWE Raw was boring except for maybe 2 minutes. TNA Impact on the other had, did what it calls itself. IMPACT. From the first match to that epic AJ vs Kurt match, TNA kicked major ass tonight. Sure it probably won't be huge in the ratings, but if TNA keeps going at this pace, WWE could be in some trouble. But I think the only way TNA could keep getting bigger from here and rise more and more to the top is to go live. No more tapings. No more spoilers leaking out. Go live, go head to head with Raw. Give the fans every week what we got tonight, which was a choice. During TNA, I heard "WHO NEEDS BRET" chants, during Raw, during the Vince and Bret segment, I heard "WE WANT HOGAN" chants. TNA had some great matches, some good surprises, and a feel of the old school. WWE Raw had, the same crap, horrible matches, and Bret Hart to hug HBK and get kicked by Vince. Cause no one saw that coming.

To put an end on this historic night, it might not show it in the ratings, but tonight, to me, TNA won 1-4-10.

Hulk Hogan's Press Conference on Signing with TNA Video

Here is the video of the historic press conference that took place at Madison Square Garden yesterday that announced the signing of Hulk Hogan to TNA Wrestling. This story has the wrestling world lit up with opinions and interest, both good and bad. From what we see, Hulk Hogan makes TNA look like a big time wrestling company that can bring in the top talent, and they're getting more recognition than ever for it. There are going to be tons more information on this for months to come, but for now, here is the video that will go down as what started it all, direct from the "house Hogan built."

CCW is better than WWE and TNA. Deal With It.

I have been a loyal WWE fan since about 1990 I would say. I watched wrestling off and on in the 80's but didn't get die hard about it till around 1990. I was 100% WWF. Never watched anything longer than a minute of WCW or anything else (sorry Eric, but I was loyal) Although I did turn an episode of Nitro on briefly only to hear Macho Man actually say... "If ya smell what the Mach is cookin." Seriously, he did. And I remained a fan even to this day. But over the past few years, WWE has well, gone to crap. The same ol same ol that goes on every Monday night. The same champions over and over again. Seriously how many times is John Cena going to win the title? It's boring.

Because of that, I broke away and tried to watch TNA, when Kurt Angle first arrived and even with Foley got there, something about TNA just didn't hook me. So I didn't stay with TNA for long.

I was pretty upset for awhile. My love for wrestling all but dead. Then CCW came along. Hulk Hogans Celebrity Championship Wrestling. At first I thought it was awesome just because of how stupid it would be. Screech wrestling? Come on. Then I started watching it, and after awhile, the matches that these celebrities were putting on became more entertaining than anything I had seen in WWE in YEARS. Sure these guys don't know all the moves, or how things exactly work, but it is something new, something fresh. It was pure entertainment.

This past weekend, changed everything. I knew at some point they were going to start "feuds" between the celebrities to bring in some storylines for the matches, but at the same time try to keep the "reality" of it all going. And we had Dustin Diamond Vs. Danny Bonaduce. Danny was injured and missed last week and because of that he was kicked off the show, but then he came back and was demanding to be put back on the show, Dustin did not like this at all and thought it was unfair so boom, a feud was born, and a match set. Dustin Vs. Danny, hardcore falls count anywhere. And good god, it was one of the best wrestling matches I had seen in a long, long time. Sure there was no blood, no huge bumps, but it was damn great. Entertainment. I was having a blast watching wrestling again. Then the finish came, Dustin was set to do his finishing move on a steel chair. A DDT. And he did it. Dustin Diamond pulled off the prettiest smoothest most perfect looking DDT I hadn't seen since Jake Roberts pulled them off. It was awesome.

Now don't get me wrong, there are some points in the show that are a little annoying. Like how the camera cuts to the pretaped shots of the crowd going crazy. (I've worked in television before, so whenever you see random shots of audience reaction, usually that's pretaped and they're acting, saves time during the real filming.) But honestly that is the only gripe. The guest spots by RVD and Goldberg were great. The teachers Brutus and Knobbs are fantastic. And the judging is done by people that KNOW what they're talking about.

This may be pushing it even further, but I have not sat and watched an episode of Raw in months. I have not sat and watched and episode of Smackdown in years. And ECW? Give me a break. I just read all the results of these shows online, and thank god I did because nothing ever happens. But CCW? I NEVER miss an episode of CCW.

CCW needs to branch out and be its own federation. Get some celebrities, and start a real show. I would be there weekly to watch.

Kimbo Slice and Hulk Hogan in a Kid's Movie?

LOS ANGELES--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Stereo Vision Entertainment, Inc. (OTCBB: SVSN), a film production company focused exclusively on developing high quality, low cost, polarized 3D feature films, announced today that the undefeated Mixed Martial Arts phenomenon, Kimbo Slice, will be co-starring with Hulk Hogan in Stereo Vision's hilarious kids' comedy "Kung Fu U" in 3D.

"Kung Fu U" in 3D is a Disney-type comedy about of a bunch of nerds and misfits that are sent away by their wealthy parents to the Brentwood Academy (a.k.a. Kung Fu U) to learn the finer arts of self-defense. It's a heart-warming romp where the rather weathered warriors come to the rescue for the kids, and in turn, the kids rescue the warriors’ seemingly lost souls from what had been their eternal apathy. It's a feel-good story that reminds us that we're all the same, no matter what our age, or where we came from, and that we should all stick together.

Stereo Vision's Chairman, "Baywatch" creator Doug Schwartz, stated, "We're very happy to have Kimbo Slice co-starring in 'Kung Fu U.' He has an enormous media presence, and he'll fit right in with our star Hulk Hogan, and the other cast members in our made for kids 3D movie. We hope to have 'Kung Fu U' in 3D in theatres by the fall of '09."

Is Hulk Hogan the new host of American Gladiators??

- There is currently a rumor going around the entertainment industry that Hulk Hogan is a candidate to host the NBC American Gladiators revival. At this time we are not able to confirm anything other than his name has been thrown around various circles.

I for one think this would be awesome. Hulk Hogan is one of the most recognized names in the world, much less sports entertainment. He's a money making machine, and his name alone will grab hundreds of thousands of wrestling fan's attention to American Gladiators. He's a marketing tool extraordinaire, and I think it would be a great investment to have him on board as a host, I mean heck, just look what he did for pasta ... BROTHERS!
